Definition of Preposition

Preposition दो शब्‍दों से मिलकर बना है जिसमें प्रथम शब्‍द Pre ‘तथा’ दूसरा शब्‍द ‘Position’ है । पहले शब्‍द ‘प्री‍’ का अर्थ पहले जिसे अंग्रेजी में before तथा दूसरा शब्‍द पोजीशन जिसका मायने हिंदी में स्‍थान जिसे अंग्रेजी में place कहते हैं । Preposition किसी Sentence में Noun या Pronoun के पूर्व आकर उनका संबंध Sentence के अन्‍य शब्‍दों से बताता है ।

Use of about in Hindi with Example

1.About

अर्थ :- इसका अर्थ विषय में, बारे में ,लगभग होता है ।

उपयोग : इसका प्रयोग किसी प्रकार समीपता या सामीप्‍य या करीबी बताने के लिए किया जाता है ।

Ex-

1. She is about to die.

2. I know all about you.

3. Shyam looked about me.

4. It is about five O’clock.

उपरोक्‍त चारों उदाहरणों में क्रमश: प्रथम में मरना या मौत करीबी समय में द्वितीय में सामने वाले के बारें में सब कुछ जानना मतलब करीब तक जानना तृतीय में मेरी और निगाहें में नज़दीकपन का अहसार और चौथे उदाहरण में लगभग अर्थ निकल रहा है । प्रथम वाक्‍य में लगभग अर्थ भी निकल रहा है । देखिये –

वह लगभग मरने को है । या वह मरने वाली है । या मरने को है । यह वाक्‍य बल्कि सभी वाक्‍य अपने अर्थ के साथ-साथ उपयोग करते हुये भी बताये गये हैं ।

About का Pronunciation अ-बाउट होता है ।

Uses of above in Hindi with example

2.Above

किसी भी प्रकार की श्रेष्‍ठता या उच्चता बताने के लिये इसका प्रयोग किया जाता है । इसका अर्थ ऊपर या अधिक होता है । जैसे –

1. He is above such meanness.
2. The fan is above his head.
3. He is above me in the team.
4. It’s price is above twenty rupees. 

Use of across preposition in hindi

 3.Across

अर्थ:- एक और से दूसरी ओर, पार, आर-पार होता है ।

जैसे –

Pinkey ran across that road.

My flat is across the road.

Road runs across the jungle.

Use of After in Hindi

4.After

अर्थ- बाद, के बाद ।

उपयोग – किसी भी प्रकार के पीछेपन के लिये किया जाता है ।

जैसे

1. This road is named after Nehru Ji.
2. Sunday comes after Saturday.
3. Ravan came after Ram.
4. Police runs after the thief.

Use of Against in Hindi

5.Against

अर्थ – विपरीत या विरूद्ध ।

उपयोग – इसका प्रयोग किसी भी प्रकार के विरोध को प्रकट करने के लिये किया जाता है ।

जैसे

1. She leaned against the wall.
2. I didn’t against my wish.
3. Everyone against you.

Use of Along in Hindi

6.Along

अर्थ- ‘लंबाई’  के अर्थ में ‘की ओर’ के साथ निकाला जाता है । इसका अर्थ  Across के अर्थ से उल्‍टा लिया जाता है ।

1. The soldiers marched along the street.
2. They walked along the river bank.

Use of Among in Hindi

7.Among

अर्थ – के मध्‍य में, में

उपयोग – जब दो से अधिक व्‍यक्तियों या वस्‍तुओं का उल्‍लेख किया जाता हो, तब Among का प्रयोग करते हैं ।

There was a quarrel among all the people.

Father divided his money among his four sons.

Use of At Preposition in Hindi

8.At

अर्थ- में, पर

उपयोग – किसी वास्‍तविक बात की समीपता को बताने के लिये At का प्रयोग किया जाता है ।

जैसे –

1. He works at work all day.
2. Wheat comes at 28 rupees 1 kg.
3.  I am at home now.
4. Radha went there at 11 O’clock.
5. Corona patient is at death’s door.
6. Teacher comes at sunset.
7. The tiger run at full speed.
8. I came at my brother’s call.

Use of by Preposition in Hindi

9.By

इसका प्रयोग किसी प्रकार की समीपता बताने के लिये किया जाता है । इसका अर्थ पास, द्वारा, से और जरिये होता है ।

जैसे –

1. Ram will go by train.
2. This pencil was bought by me.
3. We sell milk by the kilo.
4. Catch her by the hand.
5. Sit by me.
6. You will come by 2 o’clock.
7. Get up by sunshine. 

Use of Between in Hindi

10.Between

इसका प्रयोग ‘दो के बीच’ के अर्थ में होता है यह चाहे दो व्‍यक्ति, दो वस्‍तु, दो घटना या समयावधि के मध्‍य में ही क्‍यों ना हो ।  

1. Bhaiya came between one and two o’clock.
2. Seeta is sitting between Meena and Geeta.

11.Beyond

इसका उपयोग ‘दूसरी ओर’ या सीमा से बाहर/परे का अर्थ निकालते समय होता है ।

जैसे –

1. My house is beyond the temple.
2. This book is beyond me.
3. This news was beyond belief.    

Use of Beside in Hindi

12.Beside

इसका प्रयोग ‘बगल में’ के अर्थ के लिये होता है ।

जैसे –

She sat beside you.

The child is standing beside its mother.

Uses of Besides in Hindi

13.Besides

 इसका अर्थ  के अलावा, के अतिरिक्‍त और भी सिवाय होता है । यह preposition के साथ Adverb भी होता है ।

जैसे –

1. You have no other family besides your parents.
2. I have no other friends besides you.

Use of Beneath in Hindi

14.Beneath

इसका प्रयोग नीचे स्‍थान या स्थिति के अर्थ में निकाला जाता है ।

1. She set beneath the tree.
2. Animals are sitting beneath men.
3. He married beneath him.

15.Below

इसका प्रयोग किसी प्रकार के नीचेपन के अर्थ में होता है । इसका पर्याय यह है कि नीचे या निम्‍न अर्थ भी स्‍पष्‍ट होता है ।

1. She is below in the class.

3. Her intelligence is below me.
4. It was below your dignity.

16.Behind

इसका अर्थ एक प्रकार से before का उल्‍टा होता है इसका प्रयोग पीछेपन के प्रयोग में होता है । तात्‍पर्य यह है कि किसी व्‍यक्ति या वस्‍तु के पीछे अर्थ निकलता है ।

जैसे –

1. He is behind the tree.
2. The cow ran behind its mother.
3. The bus behind its time.

17.Before

यह behind का उल्‍टा है इसका प्रयोग ‘आगेपन’  के अर्थ में होता है । अर्थात् पहले, सामने या समक्ष अर्थ निकलता है ।

जैसे –

1. She came before 10 o’clock.
2.  The train was before its time.
3. Brave men like death before dishonour.
4. Everyone should think before do.

Use of with in Hindi

18.With

इसका प्रयोग ‘संबंध’ बताने के लिये किया जाता है और इसका अर्थ ‘से’ अथवा ‘साथ’ होता है ।

जैसे –

1. Ram had a fight with Raj.
2. I write with a pencil.
3. You rise with the sun.
4. He is a boy with blue eyes.

Use of through in Hindi

19.through

इसका अर्थ आर-पार, होकर होता है । जब किसी के अंदर से पार करने के लिये बताना हो तो भी through का प्रयोग करते हैं ।

जैसे –

1. She went out through the window.
2. They go through the jungle.
3. Make a hole through the floor.
4. After all you have passed HSC examination through many difficulties.

Use of Since in Hindi

20.Since

किसी निश्‍चित समय को प्रकट करने के लिये इसका प्रयोग करते है जिसको English में Point of Time के लिये use करना कहा जाता है । और अर्थ ‘से’ निकलता है ।

जैसे –

1. We have not met since Friday last.
2. It has raised since Tuesday last.
3. I have been suffering from fever since last night.

Use of Upon in Hindi

21Upon

इसका अर्थ पर या ऊपर होता है । प्रयोग करने के लिये गति के साथ संपर्क, का ध्‍यान रखा जाता है ।

जैसे –

The cat jumped upon me.

The dog jumped upon the cat.

Use of Over in Hindi

22.Over

इसका प्रयोग स्‍थान के लिये उच्‍च स्‍थान या किसी प्रकार की अधिकता प्रकट करने के लिये‍ किया जाता है ।

इसका अर्थ ऊपर होता है ।

जैसे –

• The sun shines over the earth.
• She was absent over three days.

Use of Under in Hindi

23.Under

इसका प्रयोग किसी नीचे स्‍थान में गति या स्थिरता को प्रकट करता है । इसका अर्थ नीचे, के अधीन होता है ।

जैसे –

1. She stood under the tree.
2. Mr. Sinha is working under miste ramanand.
3. The case is under trial.
4. The house is under repair.
5. The book will not be finished under a month.

Use of On in Hindi

24.On

किसी वस्‍तु के बाहरी भाग से संपर्क बताने के लिये इसका प्रयोग करते हैं । इसका अर्थ पर या ऊपर होता है ।

जैसे –

1. Prem came here on Sunday.
2. She set on the chair.
3. Hoshangabad stand on the Narmada.
4. Avinash wrote a book on Grammar.

Use of Towards in Hindi

25.Towards

इसका प्रयोग समीपता बताने के लिये होता है । अर्थात् ‘की ओर’ के अर्थ में प्रयोग किया जाता है ।

जैसे –

1. Arnav went towards the school
2. It is now towards morning.
3. He will come towards evening.
4. Mohan is kind towards his neighbours.

Use of “of” Preposition

26.Of

किसी प्रकार का संबंध बताने के लिये of का प्रयोग करते हैं । इसका अर्थ का, के, की और से होता है ।

जैसे –

1. He died of Cholera.
2. He is lame of one leg.
3. Tear the page of that book.
4. This is the house of government.
5. He sent you a packet of books.

This ring is made of silver.

Use of “To” Preposition

27.To

इसका प्रयोग किसी की ओर के अर्थ में होता है । तात्‍पर्य यह है कि को, के, के लिये अर्थ में भी प्रयोग किया जाता है ।

जैसे –

Ram is a friend to the poor.

Radha came to me.

He will come to tea.

He will go back to night.

I went to Delhi.

Use of “For” Preposition

28.For

इसका अर्थ के लिये, को, के हेतु या से होता है । और प्रयोग किसी प्रकार का संबंध बताने के लिये किया जाता है ।

He has been reading Sanskrit for six months.

He has been imprisoned for life.

This ring is for you.

He has lived here for two years.

Banarshi is famous for its silk.

He will leave for Bombay Tomorrow.

He acted for my brother.

I bought this shirt for 500 rupees.

 Diclophen is suitable for Corona.

Use of “into” Preposition

29.Into

इसका अर्थ ‘किसी वस्‍तु या स्‍थान के अंदर की ओर गति’ को प्रकट करने के लिये किया जाता है । इसका सामान्‍य अर्थ में होता है । जब एक वस्‍तु का दूसरे वस्‍तु में स्‍थानान्‍तरण होता है तो ऐसी स्थिति में भी into का प्रयोग किया जाता है ।

जैसे-

He went into the room.

The monkey jumped into the river.

The girl grew into a young lady.

Eyes changed into cold water.

Use of From Preposition

30.From

किसी वस्‍तु की पृथकता या गति को प्रकट करने के लिये इसका प्रयोग किया जाता है । इसका अर्थ से होता है ।

जैसे –

I came from my house.

He is free from danger.

This book is different from my book.

Rain comes from the cloud.

Use of “in” Preposition

31.In

किसी वस्तु से संपर्क या स्थिरता प्रकट करने के लिये इसका प्रयोग किया जाता है । इसका सामान्‍य अर्थ ‘में’ होता है ।

जैसे –

I am in the room.

He is in good health.

He died in poverty.

He will come in an hour.
